
NRK, the Norweigian national broadcaster, have announced that submissions for the 2026 Sámi Grand Prix are now open.
Submissions for both the Song and Joik Contests are now open, remaining so until Monday 3rd November – submissions for both Contests can be made HERE. Sámi Grand Prix 2026 will take place on Saturday 28th March, in Kautokeino. The rules for 2026 include:
- Songs and joiks must be an original composition
- Songs and joiks must not have been performed or released prior to the competition
- Artists must be 16 by January 1st, 2026
Ol-Johan Gaup, Producer of the Sami Grand Prix, had the following to say:
“We want to lift Sami music and joik to new heights through the qualities of our artists and joikers. It means a lot to us to experience exactly that joik and that song that gives us that feeling something greater.”
NRK have confirmed that they will broadcast the 2026 Sámi Grand Prix, for the fifth time. SVT, the Swedish national broadcster and Yle, the Finnish national broadcaster, will also continue with their coverage.
