Suspilne, the Ukrainian national broadcaster, have confirmed participation at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, in Vienna.
Ukraine will be participating in Vienna for the first time, following missing out on the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, for financial reasons. Oksana Skybinska, Ukrainian Head of Delegation, had the following to say:
“In 2026, Eurovision will be a significant musical event, because this contest is an anniversary. With large-scale events, increased media attention is what we should expect. For Ukraine, this is an opportunity to raise its voice and once again confirm our strength and the uniqueness of our musical DNA. Taking into account the challenges posed by the last contest, we want to prove that, first of all, Ukraine impresses with cool artists who write music on a European level. They set trends, convey deep meanings, and proudly show by their own example the high level of creativity that is born in the incomparably difficult conditions of war. This anniversary contest, which will attract the world’s attention, is just the best opportunity for this. In addition, we are preparing surprises for Vidbir. We will start talking about them soon.”
