Péter Magyar, the current opposition leader in the Hungarian government, wishes to return his nation back to the Eurovision Song Contest, upon an election in April 2026.
Péter Magyar, the leader of the Tisza party, had the following to say:
“I don’t know if it’s up to the government to decide [Hungary’s] participation in Eurovision, but if so, we will organise a comeback [after winning the elections].
Not participating is a bad decision, and we shouldn’t have withdrawn. I agree with Russia’s exclusion; we shouldn’t allow any war criminals to participate. So, if we win—and we will—we’ll be back. If the government decides otherwise, we’ll be back in Eurovision.”
