
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s April 30th:
Saturday 30th April 1988
On this day in 1988, the 33rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Dublin, Ireland. Cyprus withdrew from the Contest. Switzerland took victory with Céline Dion performing “Ne partez pas sans moi” and 137 points.
Saturday 30th April 1984
On this day in 1984, the 29th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. Ireland returned, while Greece & Israel withdrew from the Contest. Sweden took victory with Herreys performing “Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley” and 145 points.
