
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s April 19th:
Saturday 19th April 1980
On this day in 1980, the 25th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in The Hague, the Netherlands. Morocco debuted, while Turkey returned. Israel & Monaco withdrew from the Contest. Ireland took victory with Johnny Logan performing “What’s Another Year” and 143 points.
