
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s March 29th:
Saturday 29th March 1969
On this day in 1969, the 14th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Madrid, Spain. Austria withdrew from the Contest. France, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom all tied for victory with 18 points.
Tuesday 29th March 1960
On this day in 1960, the 5th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in London, the United Kingdom. Norway debuted, while Luxembourg returned to the Contest. France took victory with Jacqueline Boyer performing “Tom Pillibi” and 32 points.
