Melodifestivalen 2025 continues tonight and we are back with our weekly #LiveBlog – continuing with Heat 2 this evening. The next set of six acts take to the stage in Västerås, with one progressing to the flash vote at the end of Heat 5 and two to the Grand Final after tonight.
So join me, Richard, from 19:00 GMT/20:00 CET, as we discover who will progress in Sweden. You know what to do by now, refresh regularly to see what we have to say in our #LiveBlog.
Refresh here from 19:00 GMT/20:00 CET
Nu kör vi!!!
Keyyo & Edvin welcome us from Västerås. They introduce the opening act – Pandora & Eva Rydberg. Eva is performong “Tattoo” & “Euphoria”, while Pandora will perform “Trust Me”.
Voting details for both the phone & app are explained. Tonight’s line-up is revealed.
Greczula – “Believe Me”
Shirley Clamp is interviewing the acts in tonight’s postcards. Greczula is sat at a piano at the start, but hanging from the ceiling & is gradually lowered. “Believe Me” gives the immediate impression that it has come from a musical soundtrack. Greczula performs well and certainly has the crowd behind him. What a great opener – I’d love to see Greczula in the final.
Malou Prytz – “24K Gold”
Malou Prytz is back for another attempt at representing Sweden. The staging for “24K Gold” reminds me a bit of “Unforgettable” from last year – however we have hanging chains instead of scaffold poles for the set this time. There is plenty of gold lighting – which takes no one by surprise. Malou is joined by six backing dancers – all seven are in gold sequin dresses.
Björn Holmgren – “Rädda mig” (Save me)
Björn is known for TikTok, so this could sway the vote possibly. Björn’s vocals are slightly off in places and could do with some support on stage. Björn is trying to hide his nerves, but they still show in places. A good debut attempt and with a little practice, I’m sure we will see him for several years to come.
Dolly Style – “YIHAA”
Dolly Style are back and are now a four piece. “YIHAA” is a cowgirl showdown. Plenty of pastel colours in both costumes and lighting – a trademark of Dolly Style. I’m getting Rednex vibes from this performance. Simple dance moves, the younger audience will certainly learn these. “YIHAA” is a fun country number, which I hope will qualify for something tonight.
Angelino – “Teardrops”
Angelino is back for another attempt. I feel Angelino has quite monotone vocals in places during the performance. The illusion of “Teardrops” is given through the lighting and stage projection. When the backing dancers join Angelino on stage, an extra dimension of impact is brought to the foreground. Could “Teardrops” be in the final – it could be close!
Annika Wickihalder – “Life Again”
Annika debuted in Melodifestivalen last year and will be hoping to make a second successive final. We started with a potential musical soundtrack number and we are concluding the main part of the evening with the same genre. Annika is in a white dress, as are her four backing dancers. “Life Again” could do really well with Annika belting out those notes.
It’s time for a voting recap.
The voting has closed for the first voting phase. Sanna Nielsen (2014) has been announced as the second 2025 inductee into the “Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame”. Sanna performs a mega medley of her Melodifestivalen entries.
Why didn’t SVT hold off Sanna’s induction to the Hall of Fame until the final?
Edvin takes a look through the archives. The first act through to the Final is Greczula, with his entry “Believe Me”. The reprise is taking place.
The voting reprise starts again for the second voting phase. Voting has closed. Keyyo is back with another “Mellohunk” sketch – this time with Axel.
Jennifer Aoun has taken to the stage to perform “Breaking My Heart” – the winning entry of the inaugural ‘Hello Mello’ last autumn.
RESULTS! The second finalist is Annika Wickihalder, while the artist through to the flash vote at the end of the fifth heat is Dolly Style.
