LIVE BLOG STARTS HERE
21:24: Thank you to everyone that followed our live blog. See you soon! Good night Europe :)
21:23 And the winner is Tautumeitas – “Bur man laimi”. Congratulations!
21:16 All acts are on the stage and soon we will find the winner of Supernova 2025!

21:12 Latvia, STOP voting!
21:00 While the decisions are made, we have some interval acts as usually. Did you miss Aminata?

20:54 The acts have done all they could have and now it’s time for the jury and the public to have their say. Who is you favourite after watching all acts perform?
20:52 Emilija takes the Supernova stage with “Heartbeat,” a song that begins with a quiet intensity reminiscent of Tracy Chapman, drawing the listener in with its introspective start. Then, the song blossoms into full pop mode, a vibrant and energetic shift. Emilija, alone on stage, delivers the song with passion, urging us to “listen to your heartbeat.” I love Emilija’s passion and connection with the audience in the studio; I just wish she would connect more with the audience at home watching.

20:47 And finally the 10th song. Emilija – “Heartbeat”
20:44 Bel Tempo x Legzdina bring a touch of soulful reflection to the Supernova stage with “The Water.” Two vocalists, accompanied by a keyboardist, create a laid-back, mid-tempo atmosphere. The song explores the ebb and flow of a relationship, the struggles and uncertainties, as reflected in lyrics like “Our love is thicker than the water we’re swimming in” and the heartfelt plea, “Don’t play with my heart.” “The Water” is a gentle exploration of love’s complexities, a quiet moment of introspection, like a warm hug, amidst the Supernova excitement.

20:39 Song number 9 is next. Bel Tempo x Legzdina – “The Water”
20:37 Tautumeitas bring an enchanting presence to Supernova with “Bur man laimi.” Six singers, like nature’s fairies, weave a modern folk spell, their voices blending seamlessly against a backdrop that shifts from rain to snow, evoking the very elements they conjure. “Bur man laimi”—enchant my luck—is more than just a title; it’s the very essence of their performance, a captivating blend of music and magic that leaves the audience spellbound. I definitely enjoyed that. Great job!

20:31 Three more songs to go. Time now for song number 8. Tautumeitas – “Bur man laimi”
20:27 Second ad break. We’ll be right back.
20: 22 Right from the start, it’s clear this is a performance that’s all about making a statement. Markus is shirtless, sporting some rather eye-catching, sand-coloured, shiny bottoms. He’s definitely not holding back! Surrounding him are five dancers, and their choreography is quite something. They interact with Markus in a way that’s almost reverential, touching and supporting him throughout the performance. It creates a very specific visual dynamic, focusing all attention on Markus. Musically, the song has a very contemporary feel. It’s got a strong, electronic beat and a polished production that brings to mind artists like Maruv. It’s a sound that’s very much of the moment.

20:18 Song 7. Markus Riva – “Bigger Than This”
20:14 The Ludvig brings us “Līgo,” and it’s certainly a vibrant and charismatic offering. Ludvig himself is a compelling presence, clearly enjoying the spotlight and commanding the stage. He’s got that star quality, and the performance crackles with enthusiasm. The song itself is an interesting mix. We’ve got a modern, pop sound for the verses, delivered in English. But then, bam! The chorus hits, and it’s a completely different vibe! Sung in Latvian, and primarily by a group of girls, it takes on a distinctly folky flavour. This blend of modern and traditional elements is really intriguing. “Līgo” refers to the Latvian summer solstice celebration, a time of feasting, singing, and bonfires. It’s a deeply rooted cultural tradition, a celebration of nature, fertility, and community. Could this win tonight? We’ll have to wait and see.

20: 10 Time now for another fan-favourite to take the stage. Song number 6. The Ludvig – “Līgo”
20:06 Sadzejot feels like a rock song spoken at times. The female lead vocalist delivers the song with power and conviction. There’s even a saxophonist on the stage! Now, about the title, “Sadzejot.” This is where things get interesting. “Sadzejot” is a Latvian word that translates roughly to “to compose poetry”. So, the title suggests that the song itself is a kind of poetic expression, a story or message that Tepat wants to share with the audience. While I don’t doubt this has its fans, I’m not convinced it’s the right song for the main stage of Eurovision.

20:01 Act number 5. Tepat – “Sadzejot”
19:57 Citi Zēni are bringing the party with “Ramtai,” and it’s a performance that’s definitely… memorable. Lead singer channeling a bit of young Erasure? Now, let’s talk about the staging. We’ve got dancers, and they’re… well, they’re adorned in a rather unique fashion, covered in what appears to be strips of paper or plastic. It’s certainly eye-catching, and adds a quirky, almost avant-garde element to the performance. It’s definitely a choice! And the beat? You’re right, it’s got a certain something about it, reminiscent of Croatia’s entry from last year. “Ramtai” itself is a high-energy, upbeat number. It’s catchy, it’s fun, and it’s definitely designed to get the audience moving.

19:52 Time now for act 4 to take the stage. Citi Zēni – “Ramtai” (Quite a buzz around this one in the fandom).
19:47 First ad break.
19:44 “Bound By The Light,” and it’s a performance that’s certainly rich in atmosphere. We have the two singers on stage, and a rather mysterious element with dancers concealed beneath a large veil. It creates a sense of drama and anticipation. The focal point, however, is the main vocalist and her cello – or perhaps it’s another stringed instrument! They deliver the song with power and emotion, drawing the listener in. This would sound well on a movie soundtrack.

19:37 Time for the duo Sinerģija and their song “Bound By The Light”
19:35 Palu is bringing us “Delusional,” and it’s certainly a mood. This isn’t your typical Eurovision ballad or pop banger; this is a more intimate, almost theatrical presentation.
Palu’s vocal delivery is intriguing, almost spoken word at times, then powerful vocals, drawing us into the narrative of the song. The staging has Palu centered, complemented by her four dancers. There’s a definite artistic flair here, a sense of creative expression that sets it apart. The lighting and camera work contribute to the slightly offbeat atmosphere, enhancing the overall feeling of… well, let’s just say “delusion,” shall we?

19:29 Act number two. Palú – “Delusional”
19:28 After each performance, the acts are being interviewed and asked questions (unfortunately, we don’t know Latvian).
19:25 Latvia is bringing a touch of rock to the Supernova stage tonight! Chris Noah delivers a powerful performance with ‘Romance Isn’t Dead.’ The song has a catchy melody and the lyrics explore the theme of finding love.
Chris’s vocals are strong, however, the connection with the audience watching at home is a bit a hit and miss. The staging is simple but effective, with the focus on Chris and his band. The red lighting creates a dynamic atmosphere, and the overall performance is polished and professional.

19:21 Time now for our first contestant, Chris Noah – “Romance Isn’t Dead”
19:19 If you are in Latvia, you can vote at these numbers after you hear start voting :)

19:14 Our hosts for tonight Ketija Šēnberga and Lauris Reiniks.

19:13 After a laser light intro, we now see the finalists parading on the stage.
19:10 And we’re live from Riga Film Studio! Labvakar Europe!
