It has now revealed that Qatar are planning to participate at the Intervision Song Contest, when it returns next Autumn.

During the Doha Forum in the Qatari capital, Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, has stated that Qatar is planning to compete in the Intervision Song Contest.

It is worth noting that Qatar did not feature on the original list of friendly countries that the Intervision Song Contest aimed to see participate. It is also worth noting that the Intervision Song Contest is not tied to participating broadcasters, but instead the Russian Government is working directly with foreign governments to secure participation.
