
NRK the Norwegian broadcaster has announced changes to the format of Melodi Grand Prix, the contest to select who will represent the Nordic nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Gone are the weeks of semi finals and the National Selection will now take place over one night only, with a National selection to be held at the Oslo Spektrum on 15th February 2025. The participants will be announced on 16th January . Those of us old enough, will remember that the Oslo Spektrum hosted the Eurovision song contest 1996 and has also hosted MGP on several occasions .
NRK have also announced the hosts for the event and they are Marte Stocksad , who hosted the MGP final in 2012 , Markus Neby, who has played a supportive role during the live shows of MGP 2024 and Tete Lidbom, who is presenting MGP for the first time .Last year, Norway were represented by Gåte with their song “Ulveham “. The group qualified for the Grand Final but then went on to finish last in the final .
