
The EBU, the European Broadcasting Union, have announced fans from over 80 countries will be attending Malmö for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
66% of ticket holders will be coming from outside of Sweden for this year’s Contest in Malmö. The highest attending ten countries are Sweden, United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, the USA, the Netherlands, Australia, Spain, Ireland and Poland. Along with the USA and Australia, New Zealand have also been given an honourable mention for their fans traveling the furthest.
186 different nationalities currently reside in Malmö. Karin Karlsson, the Managing Director of the event for the City of Malmö, had the following to say:
“Malmö welcoming Eurovision fans and visitors from such a large and diverse parts of the world is truly fantastic. It clearly demonstrates the event’s appeal and its ability to unite people through music, culture and diversity.
We see Malmö as a place where people, cultural expressions and traditions come together and get to know each other. This is what our event should also reflect. When people from over 80 countries are welcomed by Malmö residents with backgrounds from over 180 nations, it can be incredibly exciting.”
