RTK, the Kosovan nation broadcaster, have announced details of the first Festivali i Këngës. It’ll take place from Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th October.
The Kosovan Festivali i Këngës is the intended future national selection, should Kosovo be allowed to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest. Adl Kastra, director of the RTK Festivali i Këngës, had the following to tell RTSH, the Albanian national broadcaster:
“As the director of the Festival, I communicated with the director of Eurovision and the EBU, they were extremely enthusiastic that Kosovo will hold the first festival. We will not have a representative in the Eurosong, I am convinced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs makes efforts for Kosovo to be part of it, but we have chosen a different strategy.
We will produce a festival, which will be led by youth. It will be a Festival with distinct schemes like Eurosong, but also like Sanremo. It is a Kosovar festival, there will be guests from Albania as well, it will be a great celebration for the creators of this festival.“
