🇱🇻 #CHOIR23: What Could’ve Been…

Within days of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, in Liverpool concluding, Eurovision Choir 2023 was CANCELLED. We have since learn’t further information why this has happened and which countries had expressed interest in participating – even those that had yet to have gone public.

As we know, Eurovision Choir 2023 has been cancelled and now the European Broadcasting Union has explained why. Matthew Trustram, the EBU’s Head of Television, had the following to say:

“This is due to insufficient funding.”

Six confirmed participating countries have been made public to date. Latvia were due to be the host country, while Austria were due to return and Lithuania were due to make their debut. Belgium, Slovenia and Wales were also going to continue their participation – with Wales already having SELECTED their entrants.

Norway, Scotland and Sweden were still showing interest in continuing participation, however they were seeking various elements of information before confirming participation. Information about the Contest had also been requested from the EBU by Estonia (potential returnee) and Poland (potential debutant).

Spain had not discussed participation, while Czechia, Finland and France had already confirmed non-participation.
