A non-participation at this year’s Turkvision Song Contest has been confirmed. Kumyks is a Turkic ethnic group that were due to have previously taken part in the Contest, in 2015, had to withdraw due to poor relations between Russia and Turkey.

Kumyks are local to Chechyna, Dagestan and North Ossetia. Qumuqlar who were responsible for selecting the Act on behalf of the ethnic group, have not received an invitation to take part in 2020.
