The Norwegian broadcaster NRK, have confirmed to Eurofestivals that they will not be participating at the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw.

Rules for Melodi Grand Prix Jr and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest do differ at present. However, NRK are following the Junior Eurovision Song Contest closely since the 2019 edition.

This year’s Melodi Grand Prix Jr has been moved to the summer, from the spring. Due to the Coronavirus, this year’s edition will take place without an audience. While it is wrong to assume, the current pandemic might be preventing Norway from returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
