Here at Eurovision Ireland, we look at what happened at the Eurovision Song Contest and Family of Events #OnThisDay. Today is 25th May 2018 and we look at the first ever win for Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest.

25th May – 16 Years Ago Today

On this day in 2002, the 47th Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Saku Suurhall, Tallinn. Marie N took part for Latvia, becoming their first entry to date, to win for her country. Marie N finished with a 12 point margin over her nearest competitor, Ira Losco from Malta.
