Yesterday the competitors taking part in Söngvakeppnin 2018, the Icelandic selection event were named and their songs released to the world – so you know what that means – it’s POLL TIME!
As we all know, Iceland will host two semifinals for Söngvakeppnin on the 10th and 17th of February. From each semifinal, 3 of the 6 performing artists will progress to the final, joined by a 4th wild-card entry who will be chosen by a jury. The 8 finalists will then battle in out on March 3rd for that all important right to represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018!
The rules of Söngvakeppnin state that all songs in the semi finals must be performed in Icelandic, but for the final the acts are allowed to sing in whichever language they prefer. This means that most (but not all!!) songs are available in both English and Icelandic. As we couldn’t possibly decide which version to put here, we’ve put both – yes, we know we spoil you ;-)
