We have just had the first “Car Crash” moment of Eurovision 2014 courtesy of Russia and the Tolmachevy Sisters. In fairness to the twins they sang perfectly and did exactly what was asked of them – but this is the problem. What are they being asked to do!
They start off on a plinth with their hair tied together holding 2 light sabers . I almost thought that when they tried to walk apart that the knot in their hair was not going to part. I see a L’Oriel tv advertisement in the making if they play their cards right. They then walk to opposite sides of the plinth that is – wait for it – a see-saw. I know they are 17 years old but do they need to bring us to the play ground for recess?
Just when you think that things couldn’t get any stranger, a random man (though handsome) walks onto the stage and raises up a paper lantern peacock backdrop. Twin this with some bizarre dance moves and you have it – the most amusing performance of the 2014 rehearsals so far.
Reaction from the press room – complete silence! Were people shocked by the brilliance or were they #ConfusedAsHell! Expect us to make a homage video to “Shine” – cause it’s worth it!
Don’t take my word for it. Take a look for yourself.
Is this the year Russia fails to make the Grand Final at Eurovision?

Perhaps they’re not meant to go through and the Russians will say that it’s this stage show that was the mistake
