This evening Greece has confirmed their participation at Eurovision 2014.
Our colleagues at Oikotimes have advised us that the interim national broadcaster (HPRT) submitted their application for participation at Eurovision 2014. Their application was accompanied by a special governmental guarantee to the EBU – that was requested.
This is a legal guarantee between the interim Greek state television, the Greek government and the upcoming new national Broadcaster NERIT – which is expected to come into existence shortly.
Once NERIT becomes a legal broadcasting organisation, the EBU will recognise NERIT as a full EBU member. “Currently HPRT is bonded with the EBU under a special memorandum”.
Welcome Greece to Copenhagen
