It’s back – “Eurovision in Concert” is April 5th 2014 in the host city of Amsterdam
The biggest Eurovision preview party of the year is back for all you Eurovision fanatics out there. The Eurovision in Concert team have been hard at work once again to bring you this fabulous fan event in the city of Amsterdam. The venue will again be Melkweg and promises to be bigger and better than ever.
For those who have never been, Eurovision in Concert provides you with an opportunity to see the majority of the 2014 artists, who are taking part in Eurovision 2014, perform their song several weeks before they take to the stage in Copenhagen. The event has got bigger and bigger over the years and last year there were a record 25 countries represented. There is always a special guest performer too and last year if was the Schlagertastic Carola who took to the Melweg stage for your pleasure.
There is a press event for accredited journalists who are able to gain access to the artists via a “speed dating” type set up for quick 5-10 minute interviews on the Saturday afternoon but this is only a small part of the weekend. This weekend is about the fans. Many OGAE DJ’s will be blasting out your favourite euro tunes in various pubs around the city on the Friday and Saturday nights to keep you entertained into the small hours. There is plenty time for you to take in the sights of Amsterdam if you so wish during the day as long as you are ready with your dancing shoes on for the concert on the Saturday evening. There is also an official after party that fans get the opportunity to purchase tickets for.
I attended this event for the first time in 2013 and the date is already in my calendar for next year. The city of Amsterdam gets taken over for the weekend by crazy Eurovision fans and everywhere you go you will be bumping into someone you know, shaking their thing to a schlager tune or 2.
My highlights from last year – apart from the actual concert which was utterly brilliant was meeting the gorgeous Nodi and Sophie from Georgia, partying with the Irish delegation at the after party and trawling about the red light district looking for my hotel – let’s just say I got a great insight into the “sights of Amsterdam”
Tickets for the event go on sale on 30th November 2013 and you can get further information on how to purchase tickets by following the team at ther official Facebook page and also on twitter @ESCinConcert. Hosts for the event will be announced shortly.Get in quickly so you don’t miss out on this great fan opportunity to get up and personal with the artists and party non stop for 48 hours!!!!!! The Eurovision Ireland team will see you there
We are also happy to announce that we will be bringing you another video interview with the organisers of “Eurovision In Concert” so that they can tell you what goes into making such an unforgettable weekend of Eurovision that YOU cannot miss!
So Stay Tuned for more news and remember that “#EurovisionAddiction Is A Good Thing”
