According to Italian website Ansa.it, talks are already on the way for possible contenders and presenters for the Sanremo Festival 2014. The exciting speculation from Ansa is that the amazing Jovanotti (one of our favorite Italian artists) could be possibly in contention to participate in the festival and potentially Eurovision 2014.
Lorenzo Cherubini, better known as Jovanotti – started his musical career in the genre of hip-hop, rap and disco before he introduced elements of funk and world music. Known for his strong lyrics on politics, religion and philosophies, he is always on the pulse of social topics with his music.
He records primarily in Italian but has also recorded a Spanish version of his greatest hits and sang “I’ve Got Rhythm” for the George Gershwin album. His more popular songs include “L’Ombelico del Mondo” and “Serenata Rap”. We here at Eurovision Ireland love his 2012 hit “Tensione Evolutiva” and the song “Bella”
His first album “Jovanotti for President” was released in 1988 and despite it being not widely appreciated by critics, it did reach #3 in the Italian Charts (selling in excess of 400 thousand copies) and produced 5 hit singles – of which 2 made #1 “Gimme Five” and “Gimme Five (Rasta Five)” and the other 3 reaching the Top 5.
The song “Piove” was released for the second season of The Sopranos as an ending credits track – so you maybe very familiar with his work. Throughout the 2000’s he released several successful albums like “Buon Sangue” which showed his mixture of Hip Hop and Rock Music.
You really should check out Jovanotti’s music – it is eclectic and there is something there for everyone. He is a musical Tour de Force. The last video we want to show yo is his post apocalyptic “Tutto L’Amore Che Ho” – the man does drama with pure style and he could sing the telephone book and we would have to give him 12 points.
The article in Ansa.it goes further and claims that Fabio Fazio will again host the contest in 2014, quoting RAI Director General Luigi Gubitosi ” “There is an agreement in principle to continue the path of Sanremo with Fabio Fazio, but we must note the details.” Fabio Fazio is said to have commented on Jovanotti saying “Rai1 has open doors for Jovanotti. We’d be happy to talk to him about Sanremo when he concludes his tour – we will see.”
We are keeping our fingers crossed that Jovanotti takes part in the Sanremo 2014 Festival and gets to Eurovision 2014.
