
NRK, the Norwegian national broadcaster, have confirmed participation at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.
Following the news of participation, further details surrounding Melodi Grand Prix 2026 will be released over the coming months. Song submissions are now open however and will remain open until Monday 1st September. The rules for Melodi Grand Prix 2026 are:
- The song(s) must be an original composition.
- The song(s) cannot be longer than 3 minutes.
- The song(s) must not have been performed or released before September 1, 2025
- The song(s) must have at least one Norwegian songwriter.
- Artist must have turned 16 by January 1, 2026
- Each producer/songwriter may submit a maximum of three songs.
Tarjei Strøm, Music Director for Melodi Grand Prix, had the following to say:
“We are looking for uniqueness that can resonate widely, a song that only sticks with us once, that we and the rest of Europe will just want to hear over and over again.”
