Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s May 4th:

Saturday 4th May 1991

On this day in 1991, the 36th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Dublin, Ireland. Malta returned, while the Netherlands withdrew from the Contest. Sweden took victory with Carola performing “Fångad av en stormvind” and 146 points.

Saturday 4th May 1985

On this day in 1985, the 30th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Gothenburg, Sweden. Greece & Israel returned, while the Netherlands & Yugoslavia withdrew from the Contest. Norway took victory with Bobbysocks performing “La det swinge” and 123 points.
