Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s April 7th:

Saturday 7th April 1973

On this day in 1973, the 18th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. Israel debuted, while Malta & Austria both withdrew. Luxembourg took victory with Anne-Marie David performing “Tu te reconnaîtras” and 129 points.
