
ARD, the German national broadcaster, have revealed application details & televised schedule for “Chefsache ESC 2025 – Wer singt für Deutschland?” – their national selection for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, in Basel.
A total of 3,281 applications were made for ‘Chefsache ESC 2025 – Wer singt für Deutschland?’ – either with an original song or a cover version. Approximately 20% of applications were made by bands. 1,198 artists applied with original songs.
‘Chefsache ESC 2025 – Wer singt für Deutschland?’ will take place as four televised shows. The heats and semi final will be broadcast on RTL, while the final will be broadcast on Das Erste. Twelve acts will take part in each heat on Friday 14th & Saturday 15th February. 14 semi finalists will compete on Saturday 22nd February, to become 9. The final will take place on Saturday 1st March.
A jury, including Stefan Raab, will decide which artists progress through the heats and semi-final. In the final, public voting alone will decide the winner and the German entry for Basel.
