🇧🇦 #BosniaHerzegovina: BHRT Ordered To Sell Holdings

BHRT, the Bosnian national broadcaster, have been ordered to sell off their holdings by the Municipal Court in Sarajevo to pay off their debts to the EBU – according to Klix.ba, a Bosnian media outlet.

BHRT owe the EBU around 8.1m CHF/€8.36m. BHRT own holdings worth 81.97m CHF/€84.6m. Following sanctions imposed by the EBU, BHRT have been unable to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest since 2018. Should the debts be repayed following the court orders, BHRT could participate in the Eurovision Song Contest again.

However a return to the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest isn’t as straight forward as it sounds. BHRT’s Lejla Babović explained the following to N1, a Bosnian media outlet:

“Unfortunately, in the last half year we have witnessed that there is no way to regulate the collection of the RTV tax, which would enable BHRT to operate normally, and then, therefore, participate in the Eurovision Song Contest.”
