It’s already Day 6 of rehearsals in Malmö and today we have the acts performing in the first half of the second semi final having their second set of rehearsal plus we also have the Big 5 plus hosts , Sweden taking to the stage for the first time .

As with the other first set of rehearsals, there will be snippets of the Big 5 plus Sweden available on Tik Tok. There will be footage from the second set of rehearsals published on the official You Tube channel later today .

As stated at the beginning of the week, both first and second rehearsals are closed to Press .

Today the proceedings started with Malta and the second set of rehearsals concluded by Latvia . While we wait for the footage from the second set of rehearsals , here are some snippets taken from Tik Tok of the first Big 5 plus Sweden rehearsals with my initial thoughts .

United Kingdom

First of the Big 5 to rehearse , Olly is wearing a white sleeveless shirt and sparkly ,long , red trousers . There are 4 male backing dancers wearing red boxing outfits and have bare chests. The staging sees Olly and his dancers inside what resembles a locker room with a lit ceiling and dirty white walls . There are a lot of camera angles which are apparently to create the feeling of being dizzy . The lighting is red , white and blue . The LED backdrop gives galactic views .Apparently the experience from the LED should be like a spaceship which is hurtling towards the earth through a black hole . Olly’s dancers interact with him while he sings.

Germany

Isaak is dressed casually in black . He is sat in a in a living room setting on stage . The LED cubes are used again and are lit during the performance There are 4 backing singers accompanying Isaak on stage . a bit hard to say at this stage how this will do , but somehow I don’t think Germany will be last this year.

Sweden

Marcus and Martinus are more or less replicating their Melodifestivalen performance . Wearing all in one black and blue suits , they are accompanied by 4 backing dancers , who wear black leather suits . The dance routine is very similar to that done in Melfest with the LED cubes generating light and there’s flashing screens . This will be a good opener to the Grand Final .

France

Slimane is in a very smart white outfit . The staging is dark with black and blue lights a bit in the way that Barbara Pravi’s staging was in 2021 .There’s white smoke at one point and you can see Slimane stand and move around , expressing his emotions .There’s also a wind machine . This is classy staging and I feel this could easily get a Barbara Pravi type of result . It’s going to be a Jury ‘s dream .

Spain

Lead singer is in a lace catsuit with flared trousers , with giant puffy shoulders . The staging is a mixture of orange , red and yellow colours . Everyone starts off in side one of the cubes which has been lowered down and gives an image of a box . They have brought the sofa from Benidorm Fest with them . There’s two dancers who start off the performance in elegant black but then strip down to bare chests and pvc black thongs with black PVc thigh length boots. They have certainly come to entertain us !

Italy

Angelina is dressed in a sparkly , red corset with material depicting plants on her arms and legs . She’s joined by 5 female backing dancers wearing body suits in a similar style to Angelina’s outfit . The LED cubes are lowered down towards the stage , there’s visuals on them of branches and they enclose the dancers .Trees . flowers and plants form part of the LED screens . There’s a giant throne made of twigs and a branches .Lovers of nature will love this !

Malta

Sarah has a sparkly sequinned body suit on and is joined by her four male backing dancers wearing black .It’s much the same as the first rehearsal, a very polished dance routine . I still think the likes of Chanel and Eleni Foureira have a lot to answer for !

Albania

Besa is in a different outfit to the one she wore for the first rehearsal , a long sleeved jacket with trousers .Her backing dancers are contemporary dancers and they dance around her during the performance.Dancers are in grey body suits, the backing singers are in grey dresses The dancers are shown on screen using videoart .

Greece

Much the same as the first rehearsal with Marina still in her short , sparkly purple skirt and light purple top . It’s all very Greek with the traditional dancing and waving of napkins .The word Zari is on the LED cubes .

Switzerland

Nemo is in their fluffy pink outfit again and I have to say I think this is going to divide a lot of opinions when it comes to those all important votes .The staging is unchanged with Nemo hopping on and off a circular platform , which moves around . This is very daring staging to do and one can only hope that Nemo can pull this off when it matters .

Czechia

Much the same as the first rehearsal except Aiko’s dancers are now dressed and have their hair in styles similar to her.LED cubes are used with one very close to Aiko’s head at the start . Lighting is red , blue and black strobes.There’s also fire jets.

Austria

Strobe lighting effects a plenty in Kaleen’s rehearsal but she’s now in a glittery silver outfit which exposes her legs. she starts the performance wearing a white coat which is then removed . There’s a pyramid made of metal scaffolding in the middle of the screen .Kaleen is accompanied by her four male dancers wearing black trousers , sleeveless tops and dark glasses. .There’s pyros , smoke and steam jets .I think whether this qualifies will depend on how well Kaleen’s vocals are on the night.

Denmark

I personally think that this is one of the best Danish entries for some years . Saba is in a sleeveless white trouser suit with pockets . Her arms covered with white material . She stands on a low platform . Saba has sand in her pockets and she scatters this at points during the song. .There’s also a mirror version of Saba in the LED graphics and smoke effects. I really hope this will qualify .

Armenia

Nothing more seems to have changed from the first rehearsals This is a very happy, party song ,which has a bit of everything in it.it’s also very Armenian and has many instruments .I would like to think this would appeal to televoters.
