NDR, the German national broadcaster, has announced their withdrawal from the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
KiKA will continue to broadcast the Contest, while NDR hope to return to the Contest next year. NDR had the following to say:
“Despite COVID-related restrictions for the last two years, NDR and KiKA have participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with full commitment and enthusiasm. This year, in unison and in consultation with KiKA, we will step back from the centre from the stage, allowing for a creative break. Our decision was also made in conjunction with the partial travel restrictions for Armenia, issued by the German State Department.”
