  1. I like this site. I believe it will grow and I like the fact that you respond. I agree with Mark in that it is a bit hard to follow. But maybe it just takes some getting used to. EscToday has definitely lost its way and doesn’t have the same feel to it and many of its readers have gone onto Eurovision Times which is another site I like but it gets a bit overheated at time and some people get far too personal and argumentative but maybe that’s the nature of the beast.
Hoping this site goes from strength to strength. Best of luck and thank you.

    • Thanks so much for the support . Yes navigation is non linear but we want to create a magazine style format not an essay style List. A format that helps you explore in many directions or channels depending on where your interests lie. Hope this homepage guide helps

      – menu at top of homepage helps you pick articles by generic groups country / on Ireland alone/ on finals vs national finals / archived artcles from 2012etc.. Plus some evergreen articles on us and history etc…

      – most recent articles always at the top

      – large top sliding panel of pics show all our most recent 15 articles covering the national finals

      – little layer of square pics underneath are channels we think most popular like Ireland, UK, Sweden, backstage gossip . This depends on changing moods we detect

      – the side bar also has a section that highlights top ten posts the readers have been flocking too and commenting on. Dictated to by traffic.

-main blog: the main central grid of articles in centre just show you titles and pics in chronological order as they are written – just click on one to read. We stuck some key ones at the top

I know this may sound technical to some but we will construct a post to help soon

Just remember its more like a web of avenues/ articles you can flit around . Not a linear queue of essays.

      But further advice definitely welcome….

  2. Guys
Have to say the site is quite hard to follow. The format, layout and content of All Kinds of everything site worked a lot better. You should try and follow that if both sites have joined up. I actually get frustrated when I open up the page and usually close it straight after. There doesn’t seem to be enough on there to keep my attention.

More opinion polls and individual previews from fans or “experts” would be good to read. At the moment there are very few comments from fans within the articles (which is not necessarily your fault) and it therefore feels like there is very little interaction within the site. The interviews with Ryan Dolan etc have been good though

What I found about the AKOE site was that the news was very up-to-date and had news which I hadn’t found anywhere else. Probably not fair to completely compare both sites but if AKOE no longer exists in its own right then I think it would be a good idea to transfer their format over.

In saying all that I think there is a real effort on your behalf to make this site work. I’ve been a fan of Eurovision for over 25 years and I’d rather check out a site like this than some others. I have to say that I think ESCtoday site has also lost its way and isn’t as good as it once was (being hacked last year probably didn’t help )

Best of luck with the site. Hope my feedback helps. If you require any input from fans just let me know…I always have an opinion ;-p

Ps when I clicked on the “click here” link above and went to enter my details it sent me back to a blank page with the Irish flag on it. No sure if you are aware of this fault on the iPad.

    Thanks

    Mark
