Eurovision Canada was due to launch this year, however this is now unlikely after the Contest took a backwards step.

The backwards step has appeared after the original broadcasting avenue has cut ties. Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, had the following to say:

“We thought it would happen and it kind of took a step back, we are still hoping. The original avenue that was pursued closed, but we are hopeful.”
