iTV, the Azerbaijani national broadcaster, has confirmed that over 200 songs have been submitted for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, in Liverpool.

Vasif Mammadov, the Azerbaijani Head of Delegation, had the following to say:

“Our goal and desire with this is to have local composer’s music featured in the competition. Based on the selection process, if local and foreign songs meet the same criteria, we will prefer the local song. That is, we really want the music of Azerbaijani composers to be played in the competition. Let’s demonstrate that we also have talented composers. I hope this can serve as a stimulus for years to come.”
