RTS, the French-speaking Swiss national broadcaster, have revealed that they will not be returning to Eurovision Choir 2023, in Latvia.
Switzerland took part in the second Contest in 2019, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Switzerland could still return if RSI or SRF took on the Contest. Philippa Roten, RTS Director of the Department of Society and Culture, had the following to say:
“We do not plan to participate in this event in 2023 because our budget and our slots are already committed.”
Laurent Pavia, RTS Head of Music, Society and Culture, had the following to say:
“Following a new supply strategy and the necessary savings, in the future we will have neither cash nor interest for a programme of this type.”
