RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster, have revealed that they are still interested in participating at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in the future – although they have yet to confirm when.
Rúnar Freyr, the Icelandic Delegation Head of Press, had the following to say:
“We are still interested, but we have to consider it during at least another year. There are many things for RÚV to think about before participating.
Cost is of course an issue and we would also always like to have our own preselection TV show (similar to Söngvakeppnin, our Eurovision preselection). But it takes time and money to plan this, so we will continue to develop our ideas.” and, hopefully, one day we will participate in the Junior Eurovision.”
