🇨🇾 #JESC22: Celebrating Cyprus At Junior Eurovision

Over the course of October and November, on the lead up to the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, we will be celebrating the countries that have participated at the Contest. Today, we celebrate Cyprus.

Cyprus debuted at the inaugural Contest in 2003, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Theodora Rafti finished in fourteenth place with her entry “Mia efhi”, scoring 16 points. This included one set of twelve points from Greece.

The most successful entry from Cyprus came twice in 2004, when the Contest took place in Lillehammer, Norway and in 2006, when the Contest took place in Bucharest, Romania. In 2004, Marios Tofi finished in eighth place with his entry “Oneira”, scoring 61 points. This included one set of twelve points from Greece.

In 2006, Louis Panagiotou and Christina Christofi finished in eighth place with their entry “Agoria koritsia”, scoring 58 points. This included two sets of twelve points – from Greece and the EBU.

The most recent Cypriot entry was in 2017, when the Contest took place in Tbilisi, Georgia. Nicole Nicolaou finished in sixteenth and last place with her entry “I Wanna Be A Star”, scoring 45 points.
