1FLTV, the Liechtenstein national broadcaster, has decided against applying for full EBU membership – a requirement to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, as well as other Eurovision Contests.
In 2008, the Eurovision Song Contest was a long term aim for 1FLTV. An application for EBU membership was made in 2017, with a debut aimed for 2019 – however the Eurovision project was scrapped after 1FLTV founder Peter Kölbel passed away.
Sandra Woldt, Managing Director of 1FLTV, had the following to say:
“We are no longer pursuing this goal, we are concentrating on our reporting in and for Liechtenstein.”
