Over the last 24 hours, we have heard some sort of news from Azerbaijan, Belgium & Ukraine – this is either to do with participation in Warsaw or how they will select their entry.
Rumours circulated various websites over the past 24 hours that ITV, the Azeri national broadcaster, may be bringing Azerbaijan back to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw – however these articles have since disappeared. Their participation in the past has had a sporadic frequency, so we shall see if they make the final participants list.
In April, VRT, the Flemish broadcaster from Belgium announced they wouldn’t be returning to the Contest in Warsaw. RTBF, the French broadcaster from Belgium, have announced that they too will not be returning – citing a lack of audience interest as their reason.
UA:PBC, the Ukrainian national broadcaster have announced they are yet to decide how they will select the entry from Ukraine for this year’s Contest. While both televised and online national finals have been used before, an internal selection cannot be ruled out with the current Coronavirus pandemic.
