Norway – Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak premiers his new song on the tv show ‘The Hit’. He will do battle with fellow Norwegian singer Trine Rein on the show tonight in the bid to progress to the Grand Final of the show on October 24th.
‘The Hit’ is an Irish TV show concept that has been picked up by many countries. Two artists in each show walk between six rooms in search of their next single. The artists do not know what songs the unknown songwriters will present to them, and the songwriters do not know which singer/band will enter their room. The artists first choose two songs each and they will perform their favourite song on the live show in front of the 2 competing songwriters.
In Norway the public will then vote for the song that they like the best from the 2 established artists and tonight it is Alexander Rybak and Trine Rein looking to progress to the Grand Final.
Of the other acts through to the Final are Mathilde Johnsen’s song “Critical Love” performed by A1. Next week will see Norway’s 2008 Eurovision singer Maria Haukaas Mittet (her married name) take on D.D.E.
Trine Rein who will take on Rybak tonight was one of Norway’s biggest selling artists of the 90’s with over 1 million albums sold. She came to fame in 1993 with her Album ‘Finders Keepers’ that sold over 600,000 copies. She made the Final of Melodi Grand Prix with her song ‘Here for the show’ in 2006. She also had a hit with the song ‘Torn’ before Natalie Imbruglia made it a monster hit. The song actually was by alternative rock band Ednaswap.
So who will win tonight between Alexander and Trine?
