Official Opening Party
Saturday night saw the Official Opening party of the Eurovision Song Contest.
It was a spectacular event with amazing fireworks exploding over the Baku Sky Line on the Caspian Sea. Baku is a city full of wonderful architecture and is expanding at a colossal rate. It seems rather fitting that the contest is here this year as it is a country full of opportunity – and I think we all need some optimism in our lives these days and Baku seems like a city that is on the up and looking to the future with great pride.
So what was the Opening party like I hear you ask?
Well it was in Euroclub and was a very glamorous event. All of the contestants walked the red carpet at Euroclub and the President’s daughter even made an appearance. If that wasn’t enough to get people excited – many of this year’s contestants took to the stage and performed their songs live.
The lovely Ivi from Cyprus was one of the highlights from the Opening Party. She dazzled the audience and had the crowd dancing and cheering.

So here is Big Day. In 15 minutes the first full dress rehearsal takes place and we will see Jedward’s full performance with their water feature . I am going to blog each song as they are performed.
Then at Midnight Azeri Time or 8pm GMT the second dress rehearsal will take place. This will be the rehearsal that the Jury will vote on which will account for 50% of the vote and could seal a country’s fate.
So stay tuned and I will refresh the one article with the updates and reviews of this highly important rehearsal.
Fingers crossed for Jedward!!
